VIAMEDIA AND HARDEE’S® ANNOUNCE $10,000 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
Fourth Annual Scholarship Commends Students’ Commitment to Academic Achievement and Community Leadership
New York City – September 27, 2016 – Viamedia, the largest independent cable TV ad management company, announced the fourth annual Viamedia & Hardee’s® $10,000 College Fund Contest. The contest offers Kentucky students who’ve demonstrated their dedication to academic achievement and community leadership the chance to win a $10,000 scholarship prize to help alleviate the rising costs of college tuition.
“We are thrilled to help foster the next generation and provide such a life-changing opportunity to Kentucky students,” said Becky Jones, Viamedia Chief Marketing & People Officer. “Both Viamedia and Hardee’s believe that a combination of hard work, ambition and community involvement is the recipe for success, and wish to give one lucky student the confidence to turn their dreams into reality.”
“No student should be denied a college education because of the steep cost of tuition,” said Mindi McGinnis, a representative from Hardee’s franchise group, Heritage Assets & the Lexington Coop. “This scholarship provides more than just financial support -- it is an incredible feeling to know that people want to see you succeed, and this is exactly what Hardee’s and Viamedia want to express to Kentucky students.”
The Viamedia & Hardee’s® $10,000 College Fund Contest has had tremendous success and a significant impact on past winners. Dustin Stamper, winner of the 2015 scholarship, has since graduated with a degree in nursing from Morehead State University and now works as a registered nurse at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.
“Winning this scholarship was an unbelievable experience for me,” said Stamper. “Nursing school is very stressful, and this scholarship gave me not only financial stability, but a major confidence boost to know somebody believed in me.”
Emily Neff, winner of the 2014 scholarship, is equally as grateful for the opportunity. After winning the scholarship, she married her high school best friend and is now expecting her first child. She continues to go to school, and maintains that the scholarship made this possible.
“I have friends that are going to be $30,000-$40,000 in debt when they graduate, and it's such a relief to know that I won't be in that situation,” said Neff. “This scholarship allowed me to continue my education in spite of some tough times, and I really can't even begin to express my gratitude.”
The Viamedia & Hardee’s® $10,000 College Fund Contest is open to Central Kentucky students enrolled in a Kentucky college or university by December 31, 2016, who have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and are at least 17 years old. Eligible entrants will compete for the scholarship by writing short essays related to their educational goals and contributions to the community. The scholarship contest ends on November 15, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Potential entrants can go to http://www.hardeessupportsstudents.com for complete details, official rules and to enter for the opportunity to win the grand prize.
